Snow
Well, well, well . . . this morning we had great gobs of snow (nothing's been lasting long so far this year) and everything was thickly covered and amazingly gorgeous and I didn't get even one picture, ack! I was too busy staring at my snowblower. Literally, for a while after trying to start it again (with failed attempts after one other sizeable snow...and having paid some pretty $$ to get it fixed, prepped and ready for winter back in October, arggghhhh!)..I just stood there in my driveway, staring at it, kinda hoping the one neighbor across the street that was also out at 9:30a.m. popped up again so I could ask for help. He never did. You see, after the first failed attempts a couple weeks ago, I got the manual out and read and reread that thing, and today, did it again, even pondering the French section which showed all the parts since that section in English was missing, hahaha...my life! ๐After staring at it for a little while longer, I tried one more sneaky thing, called, turn the gas valve switch thing in the opposite direction of that pictured in the manual. That is, I turned it in the direction which the manual shows as "off." And, lo and behold...I was snowblowing within 45 seconds of that confounding move. ARRGGGGGHHHHH and YAAAAYYYYYY. Finished at 10:20a.m. and made it to my 10:45a.m. church service after a quick, no-hair-washing shower and landed right in the middle of the first reading, I count that as "Not Bad!" (-: So...pictured is what bits of snow I could still find on the trees upon my arrival home after 1 p.m., alas.
Wisdom
What would you say it is?
Well, today I heard that it is something like, "having a hearing mind," you know, like what Solomon was asking for specifically in 1 Kings 3:4-15 when looking at original text used. Wisdom doesn't just come with age, gray hair, academic degrees and prowess, wisdom though comes to those who have ears for hearing, I mean, really...h.e.a.r.i.n.g.
Hearing what?
The news?
In-depth studies?
Grand lectures?
Your elders?
Nope.
Hearing God's Word!
The wisdom that will befall you as you listen, really listen and hear the life-giving Word God gave us will enlighten us on:
Forgiveness
New Beginnings
Repentance
Restoration
Hope
Light
A Future
Grace
God's Gifts
Mercy
Peace
Love
And So Much More!
You know, Solomon has a pretty solid reputation in the world of wisdom, but don't be fooled...he goofed up here and goofed up there even after having the Lord appear to him in a dream, just like us regular folks do, even when we know exactly what we are and aren't supposed to be doing. But, he was given ears for hearing by the Lord, and eventually, he really was able to H.E.A.R. the words of the Lord and grew his wisdom. So, if Solomon can goof up and grow his wisdom, so can we!
Here's to starting a new week and a new year with ears to H.E.A.R., really, really Hear! Boy, that's exciting!
Sunday Funnies
I grew up reading the Sunday funnies, loved it and have a Sunday newspaper subscription so that my kids (at present only Livia taking advantage) can also grow up reading the Sunday funnies. I have a funny memory of my having to wait for my turn to read the funnies during a regular Sunday circumstance, but I'm using all of my decency and privacy powers possible to not share that part of the story out of respect for the other party involved. I wonder if that other party, whom I believe still checks in on this ol' blog, will identify themselves and the situation I could be referring to, to me. In a few weeks, I'll ask...I'm cracking up right now btw.
Anyhoo...in honor of something funny on Sunday...Below is a screenshot of something I think is really funny. It's a screenshot from my Nextdoor App, For Sale & Free section (I usually can find an odd, funny, mind-boggling item to screenshot there...two deodorants anyone? Only one opened!!), this time of someone offering their leftover packets of various Chinese restaurant sauces...FREE...even! I mean seriously, someone, especially during Covid time, but really, to me, no time is the right time, someone is going to head on over to Maya's house and pick up their "no age known" sauce packets??? So, what I do is, I screen shot it and usually send to my sister or Lara with little one liners like, to Lara, "I'll pay for shipping if you're interested, let me know ASAP!" or to Kate, "I'll drive them over this week, let me know ASAP!" and we laugh and we laugh together with our LOL's and our crying emojis. Tonight was even better because for the first time, I sent this screen shot to dear ol' dad offering to drive them over and putting in a bunch of laughing/crying emojis and he calls and says he doesn't know what's so funny but he doesn't need any of MY left over sauces. Boy, K and I got a secondary bunch of LOL's!
Well, needless to say...if you act fast and get me a message, I'm more than willing to do a porch pick up (no contact necessary) and get your 25-30 miscellaneous Chinese Food sauce packets from Maya. I'll have to ask you to pay for shipping if you're outside a 30 mile radius though, haha! Just LMK!
๐
"There's more than we could ever get to."
Priceless!
