Happy New Year ~ Gloria in Excelsis Deo! . . .

As far as exclamations to begin a New Year go, I'm kinda in love with . . .
Gloria in Excelsis Deo!
Glory to God in the Highest!

Do I exult that Gloria because I optimistically expect this New Year to be so new and different, filled with all the ease, comforts, and joys that one's heart could desire? Do I exult that Gloria because I expect this to be my Simplest, Easiest Year Ever? (If you followed that link...that year ended up being one of two of the most tragic years of my life so far).

Nope.

I will definitely look forward to times of ease, comfort and joy and give great gratitude in their wake, recognizing those blessings as they come.

Gloria in Excelsis Deo can be sung from the heart at all times,
during all joys and all struggles,
because our Glorious God in the Highest loves us so much that he gave his only begotten son for us, washing us whiter than snow each and every day, able to persevere, laugh, cry and love our way through our earthly lives until we all meet again!

Gloria in Excelsis Deo for this New Year to Come!

A wee bit of my day today:

Started my third year of "read the bible in a year" on the Bible App. today. Ended my last one in November and thought I'd wait till a nice clean start on January 1st for this next one. It was interesting how there was a notable absence in my days sometimes between November and today of not reading scripture daily. Doing a new plan this year with a different order of the books. The first year I literally read straight through from Genesis to Revelation, that was hard I tell ya. Going straight through some of the Old Testament books takes real focus. The second year I did the Old Testaments and New Testament simultaneously, both starting from the beginning of each part and going through in order a bit from each every day. I enjoyed that one. This year I'm doing one that appears to go in order for the Old Testament while working through the New Testament out of order and occasionally adding a chapter from Psalms or Proverbs. With these plans, you pick which version of the bible you prefer and there is no commentary or interpretations alongside, you are literally "just" reading through the bible. You might consider joining me this year, start anytime and if you miss a day, or three...catch up during a slow day! (-:

Winter Beets
Would have been uber cool if I'd just picked these, eh?
But no, they're my last harvest from the Fall that I've had in the fridge all this time.
They were tucked in a bag with their greens which were getting pretty gross, so I hacked the greens off today, washed 'em up a bit, took them for a walk to the photo shoot table, haha, and hope against all hopes that I really roast them tomorrow already!!

New Year's Day Seven Layer Bean Dip
I had a little culinary trip around the world for New Year's Eve and Day as a Foodie way to bring joy into my first solo New Year's Eve in ... whoa, wait...didn't catch this yesterday, likely my whole life! Wow! Of course our multi-families get together was cancelled due to Covid, and this year the kids were at SP's (though they usually come with me to the big party when it's his year because they love celebrating with all their friends).

My Eclectic Menu:
(All grocery store bought except today's been dip)
Grape Leaves
Pita Chips & Hummus
Sushi
French Brie Cheese

So, here we go . . .
Oh, what fun . . .
2021!
