Sunday Night, Monday Morning . . .

We still have one more weekend to enjoy, thank goodness!

 And then . . .

Bamm...right back at it!

Heading off to 8th and 5th this year!

And this gal, off to 2nd...and the last time being walked in by a parent.  Her second grade teacher politely suggested, it's time.

Full Sun . . .

I'm not quite sure how to express
the healing that comes
from being able to garden in a yard with full sun again.

2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Can I add that just as I posted the tomatoes pic and wrote my little ditty that it popped to mind the 2 Corinthians verse that dropped my way last night just before the eyes snapped shut for the night.

I may be a wee bit introspective and deep these days but that verse seems a PERFECT fit for my "growing in full sunlight" post!

Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow!

Must be August . . .

2nd year playing.
Changed teams this year.
Found a team with more playing time, less money, 25 minutes closer to home for the five days/week practice schedule, more focussed practices says the boy, and overall really great families involved.
Touchdown!

Double Digits, again! . . .

Here is our birthday boy at 8:11a.m. on 8/11 about to head out the door to pick up a friend to spend the day with....I'm quite certain he has not seen anything near 8a.m. since June...(-;

Oh my goodness, what a sweetie!

(I am amazed at how I still love the "hole"/windows in the wall that were made some 14 years ago or so. Like, I really just think it looks so nice and adds such a great touch to what could be a rather humble space. I still also walk around this house/yard sometimes with a giddy sense of wonderment at how it just fits like a glove to be here)

This chef in the making requested a rainbow sherbet cake.  Well, that's a new one for the books and let me tell you, didn't blink twice in agreeing to it.  Easiest cake ever!  Tub of rainbow sherbet ice cream smoothed into the dish and topped with whipped cream and added maraschino cherries since I was thinking of a way to dress this baby up and I remembered him saying recently he liked them.

Ten candles!

No problem!

Note.To.Self.

Dear Self,

Never ever, and I implore of you...Ev.Er...consider it an amazing coup of an idea to water your zucchini plant with left over water from the goldfish tank when the fish have been given back to the fish store because a child doesn't want them any more (side bar...for real...I honestly brought them to the store instead of the ol' flusherolie...I could not have looked the kid in the eye). Yes, I know it sounds like goldfish water would be filled with great nutrients that the plants would kill for...but alas...look who's doing the killing...

Self, I continue to remind you....Never.Ever.Ever....water your zucchini plant with goldfish water from the goldfish tank...ever...

There's two more like that back by the shed.

They are no more amused than this one!

Just because the other plants didn't seem to mind it, please, don't mess around with fish water any more...could've wiped out the entire garden in one fell swoop!  No.More.Funny.Business.

Just use the hose!

I'm glad I got tired of hauling my watering can from the boy's bedroom, through the house and around the yard...it's the only thing that saved the other squash...today's blessing...thank goodness I'm in my mid-forties and the energy isn't what it used to be...every last one of those plants would be deader than a doornail right now!

Whew!

Yours Truly,
Self

I. Am. Still. Here. . . .

I am still growing vegetables.

Fairytale Eggplant.
Super cute.

Nightly haul.
Tonights got all chopped up and added to a salad with cilantro/avocado dressing.  It's an interesting dressing, sounded better to me than it's unusual taste, but I'm still gonna use it up.

My garden is bursting at it's little seams.  It lines this little bed on the back side of the garage that you may have seen a few posts ago.  I am LOVING having my "garden" right next to the house, very easy to maintain.  I have another back side stretch of my house that has nothing along it, nothing...next year, I think it's getting a veggie garden.  So much for decorative hedges and rose bushes, I don't have nearly enough space to grow my beans!
