A Happy Birthday Post! . . .

This sweet girl from back in the day, by her mom's tulips in the front corner sun garden, just went and turned twenty-three years old today!  What in the absolute world, wow!
(Fyi, the "back in the day" pics from today's post are iphone pictures of photos taken at the kitchen table yesterday)

And now, she does things things like this . . .
That is, land a plane on an airstrip that begins atop the cliff of a mountain in Telluride, CO.
I mean, you really got to be kidding me!!
All of this really blows my mind still and she's been with this company as her first job out of college since September. But, come on, landing on the edge of a mountain, that one's just a little more, "Um Wow-ish" wouldn't we say??!!
I mean, I'm used to "work" being..."Ok now Shelly, let's look for middle C on the piano, it's next to a group of two black keys." Hahaha!

Oh, this gal!
Taking hikes in mountains while waiting to fly again.
A spirit of adventure fills her to say the least.

These pics were just this past week during her second trip to Colorado this month. You see, her company owns jets and people rent them to go places. As people do, hahaha! She's one of the co-pilots on staff (she can't be a full pilot yet due to lack of flight hours and maybe some other reasons I don't know about). So, people will rent the plane and the pilots and sometimes the plane just stays where the people are (or near where they are) because it's less expensive for the client to keep the plane around rather than fly it back to its home base and then back again to pick them up. Well then, during that wait time, oh, you know...in places like Puerto Rico, Calgary and stuff...the pilots aren't flying. So, if a pilot's not called to fly, they've got time on their hands to hike, take pictures of sunsets and text them to their moms, explore, oh you know...vacationy type stuff!! Um...what??!! (-: This girl has been blessed with quite the gift for her first job out of college.

Awww, here she is now, with elephant baby all those years ago when we lived here the first time. These pics have never seen this blog, as most of Lara's early life hasn't since they were taken with cameras and developed at CVS. They're seeing the light of day because one of my projects in "slower teaching schedule January" has been transferring all the early year photos from their paper envelopes you get them in from the store into cool plastic photo organizing containers from Michaels that went on a fabulous sale! (-:
I've really been enjoying this particular January, productive yet slower paced.

Days of yore, when we threw big parties at a big house with lots of girls and home made tissue paper flowers for the party craft. There's Lara now, third from left in purple velvet. She used to be a huge fan of wearing long velvety dresses, I especially love the picture of her in a long, black velvet dress raking leaves. Shoulda brought that along today but, alas. (-:

Been a long, long time since I had glasses, bangs and shoulder length hair.
But at the very same time, it's been the blink of an eye!
That little mark on Lara's head is actually on the old picture from the developing or something, not actually something on her head.

Twenty-three years ago today,
I was blessed to become a mom to this treasured child of God, I am so grateful.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
