Happy Sunday! . . .

A quick snap on my way into worship this morning.

I pray that today you were able to find a place in person, online or listen by phone to refresh and renew, to repent and receive absolution, to listen, discern, sing and pray, to hear God's Word and all the good news that comes through hearing. Wasn't possible for you today? Take a moment...read scripture. Don't have a bible?  Most of all the versions are online.  You can actually put the whole bible right on your phone, and pick the translation/version.

Wow...how wonderful all the ways God's precious Word can come to you.

Today in our worship bulletin was a cool City Serve Christmas Challenge. Our church usually does one larger "city service" project in our community each month. This month, with Covid case numbers having risen, they listed around 35 individual challenges one could do alone or with their families and extra space for your own ideas. Gonna see how this works for the kids and I. I'm always one for a challenge and checking off the boxes.  Here are some examples...

Ask a spouse or friend how you can pray for them today.
Kids-tell mom or dad thanks for making lunch or dinner today.
Acknowledge something a friend or family member does for you today.
Send a letter of thanks and Christmas card to your local police station.
Write a letter with a Christmas card to an elderly member of your church.
Open a door for someone.
Ask a waiter or waitress how you can pray for him/her.
Call someone who lives alone.
Make a meal for someone who recently had surgery, a new baby, lost a loved one or to someone just to show you care.

The list could be limitless couldn't it.
These are things we could do all the time right?
We just don't think about it in our every day.
For some reason, it's not always instinctive, right?

But, when it's on a piece of paper,
With a little line next to each "challenge" to check,
there's more accountability.
Makes it feasible and fun in my book.

I'm just going to keep the list up until it's finished.
Christmas season or beyond.
Some of them will really stretch me
(Really, I'm going to ask a complete stranger if there's something I could pray for them about?? whoa!),
Some of them I already did yesterday,
but will do again to be official. (-:

Maybe you'll consider joining me?
Create your list, look up a list, ask me for my list.
Let's Do This!
