The old library table from the Purlingbrook house!
I think it cleaned up pretty nice.
I grew up with this table in our living room. I remember it in two locations, one on the north wall and one behind the couch. I remember it SUBSTANTIALLY larger than it is now...can wood shrink? (-: I have no idea when this even came into my basement. Did we get it when we first moved back from NYC and had it in our first houses' basement? I have absolutely NO memory of it's arrival from my folks. But, it's been hanging out in our basement (which is a storage room only) for quite some years, under piles of boxes or most recently under my old three mirrored dresser which was placed on it upside down. WOW, are you really still reading this???? (-:
Anywho, a few weeks ago when I was in the basement I was struck by beauty of the table and decided it had to make an appearance upstairs. Got it hauled up, cleaned up and tried to brainstorm where to put it. A discussion with BMans (-: had me thinking maybe it should go back downstairs for a coupla years just to be doubly sure it wasn't used as a launching pad for say, front flips, or some such craziness. Then, it hit me...in real slow motion like...Put.It.In.Your.Bedroooooooommmmmmmm!!!!!!!
Oh my gosh, it's absolutely perfect and I finally have a flat space in my very own house that no one else needs to put their cups, bubbles, chewing gum, shoes, peanut butter or pajamas on. I am beside myself in awe and haven't even been able to put much on it yet because I'm still a little stunned.
Let's take a looksee at the process shall we?
The "catch all" space gone wild in my bedroom.
Yes, there are in fact other "catch all" spaces in other rooms of the house too.
I'm sure I'm the only one that lives like this...Ha!
De-"catch all-ed"
Not sure why I'm getting into detail here, but...ah, what the heck. Here's the corner that's getting readjusted in order to make room for The Table. That there glider rocker was a $25 "Freebies" gem that has served me so well through five babies. Of course, when I bought it I had every intention of recovering those cushions...and now, it doesn't really matter! Hahaha!
So, everything's cleared out and I moved the other dresser over as you can see. Not really the design option I'd choose if I didn't have THIS to look forward to:

I mean Come On!!!
I can not get over it. When I sit at the table I have the best view of our woodsy back yard overlooking the fire pit area. Lots of great light and a calm and quiet corner of the house.
Love it!
Now back to reality . . .
Gotta figure out what to do with all this stuff!
