It's my understanding that this might be a year with excessively high numbers of fruit flies. That's the case at our house this Fall and I did see a comic reference to it in the newspaper recently too. A guy had an entire piece of fruit flying by his face being carried by fruit flies. In any event, I read this tip somewhere. As pictured above, fold a piece of paper into a cone, put it in a jar with a piece of fruit (I'm using a banana) and they can get in the cone but can't figure out how to get back out! Awesome, they're neatly contained in a jar on my counter...nice...(that is for as long as I can keep you-know-who from pulling the paper out and letting them free!).
