Happy Sunday . . . I thought I had beat the system! . . .

Today I really wanted to rest.

We'd attended the 10:45a.m. service and then decided to find some brunch afterward since William had a friend along today. Well, that ended up to be more than we bargained for by running around town finding long waits at a couple places and finally ending up at the bagel shop that I actually thought in my head at the beginning should have been our first choice. So, all this leads to getting home close to 2p.m. when all is said and done. After having been busy and non-stop from Lara's arrival last weekend, work week and party day yesterday, I wanted to rest this afternoon....BUT...we then had hockey practice to drive to a half hour away, take off time, 2:30p.m. Okey-dokey then, let's do it. But this time...I brought myself a pillow and a comfy blanket and had great plans for that hour, twenty minute practice. Rest and Relaxation!
Maybe even a nap!
I've beat the system I thought, napping while mom-chauffeuring.
Yes!
Let's check in on the plan, shall we?

Aw, yeah...now we're talkin'!

Cozy, colorful blanket on an overcast, rainy day.
Perfect!

Let's repeat that . . . Perfect!
Perfect?
Well . . .

As I was sitting up near the end of practice time I see the guy connected to this iced knee come hobbling out of the rink with his coach hauling his hockey bag for him.
Per . . .
fect.
What's the status, I ask. Hit in the knee with a pretty hard slap shot, is the answer. Not sure if it was partially outside the knee pad on his actual knee or not.
Is this something we need to get checked out, I ask?
Wasn't sure, William wanted to, there was quite a goose egg, well, chicken egg, sticking out the side of his knee after all.

So, ya know.
Best laid plans.
Arrival time home, 2.5 hours later than expected.
No bone fracture, thank goodness!
ACK...we interrupt this report...it's raining super hard right now and I just remembered that there was a gutter I saw before hockey take off that I needed to put back in line, BIG gap between sections . . . ah well, lots of rain gushing from the gutter into the front garden by the garage...anywho...tomorrow, it's dark out...well, and raining!
X-rays weren't able to tell if there's a joint fracture so we'll be following up with this that or the other doctor to inquire. He's improved so far though with advil and ice so we're thinking things are probably A-ok!

And then, for our Happy Sunday thoughts.

During this post for some reason, I took a side track and scrolled back through old posts. And, low and behold...I stumbled into Ben's Confirmation Clematis post from earlier this year where I found the excerpts I copied below and wow, for some reason today Ben's confirmation verse really lit up for me (really no pun intended...truly). It just resonated as so comforting in a way it never has before and trust me, I've read it now more than one might usually do of their child's confirmation verse. I read it always trying to think of it from Ben's perspective and why he connected with it, but today I read it and it came as a gift for me. Kind of beyond words, but incredible could be one of them. 💜

Ben's Confirmation Verse:
Psalms 37:5-6
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

A sentiment Ben wrote in his statement of faith:
"Knowing that the Lord will always be there to receive your prayer really boosts your confidence. Wherever you are you will never be alone and will always be able to pray, knowing that you will never be forgotten."

So, maybe this week your plans with go smoothly, you'll "beat the system," and all will be well. Or, maybe they won't. Throughout it all, I pray that our dear Heavenly Father bless you and keep you this week and all your weeks to come!
