What with all the fun Christmas activities going on and all.
And all I have the time and energy for right now are,
PICKLES!
It struck me the other day that I had three jars of pickles in the fridge (do NOT read anything in to that, we don't have any ice cream in the freezer, I just like pickles and every now and again treat my self to a nice jar of them...o.k., there). So, naturally, I pulled them out of the fridge for a photo shoot.

I was first drawn to this jar at Busch's (yes, you are about to start reading about my pickle purchases...can you even believe it???!!!) Ha!...because of the Brooklyn and Detroit connection (used to live in NYC, Manhattan though) and then was intrigued by the "garlic and dill" stamp on the label. As far as my taste buds are concerned, not a good balance of garlic and dill. Way too strong, almost bitter, not a nice garlic flavor at all. Sorry, McClures, you'll have to languish in the fridge for a while I guess.
(Oh my gosh, I can not believe how verbose I'm being about these pickles at 11:29p.m., wow!)

Next, Bubbies. Oh, how I've enjoyed the Bubbies occasionally over the years. I find these at Krogers and where as they used to be about $5.99 a jar I recently saw them for $7.99 a jar and they fell way off my shopping list. However, I happened into a Hillers the other night and, zowie, Bubbies for $4.99!!!
But wait, before you get too excited for me...snicker...

I have found my new favorite pickle, and evidently, it is somehow not even a pickle.
The Grosik "Cucumbers in Brine" are now my all time favorite pickle, ehm...cucumber in brine.
SP: "What's a cucumber in brine?"
Me: "A Pickle."
SP: "Oh."
Says they're from Poland, found them at Hillers and I think they were just $3.99 a jar (I just went to check for a price tag, none since grocers aren't required by law to put price labels on anymore...but, while I was at the fridge with the jar in my hand, yep, you guessed it...had myself a cucumber in brine, yummo!)
So, that's it. We've seen fireworks at Greenfield Village for their Holiday Nights, we've been to the Toledo Zoo for their lights extravaganza, Fuzzy's been up to pranks galore, pretty Christmas cookies are being made, Salt dough ornaments are heavily painted, and you get...
PICKLES!

Did you know pickle juice makes a great marinade for chicken? Sounds weird but we liked it.
Wow, I had no idea. I certainly have enough pickle juice in the house right now for marinading a meals worth of chicken that's for sure. Probably don't want to mix the different brines though! (-:
