Memorial Day Weekend . . .

We had an absolutely gorgeous weekend to both celebrate Memorial Day and the coming summer fun. Here's a little recap:

Made it to our local lake three times in two days!
I always feel like we'll be staying for a few days with the amount of gear we bring.

Let the shooting begin.
Can you believe no one got their squirter taken away??!!
(I can't)

9:00a.m. Memorial Day
Very nice, Memorial Day parade honoring those that served, are serving and have given their lives for our country. Kids complained about no candy being thrown but I thought it was good to distinguish between this one and the more celebratory July 4th parade.

I think we even saw five (six?) bands!
Granted, some were middle school, like this one, but still...
we always love the marching bands.

After the parade we headed to the Yankee Air Museum because SP heard of some Memorial Day happenings there. This is a sample of our chorus of angels when we first unloaded from the car in the 80+ degree, sun-shinny, humid heat:

Does this sound familiar to anyone else??

Our troops soon warmed up (well, o.k., they were already very warm) to the idea and made some "Thank You" cards to be sent to troops in Iraq.

Even William.
We've started "dotting" words and he loves to trace them so he can "write" too.

Saw some grand, old planes and some Memorial ceremonial events.

Had a couple of fly overs.
This one had me a little concerned, not sure what was up with the one peeling out of formation with the string of smoke???

And though this is how we all felt,
She was the only one to zonk out at the end of it all!

Great Weekend.
