"What we have here is a failure to communicate."
I used to go "garaging" (garage saleing) with my grandparents as a kid and I LOVED it. We "garaged" throughout streets of Detroit (I'm pretty sure, I was probably 5-7 at the time) and even now if I happen to pass a street like Lahser (yes, it's "hs" not "sh") it brings me back to sitting in the back of their car as they planned our route or next stop. I even learned how to rollerskate in the parking lot of one of the places they set up a table to sell their wares. As an adult I don't have it in me to plan a big Saturday route from the lists in the paper, drive all over and haul kids out of the car but, almost every Saturday...
I scan the Freebies
And I find gems like . . .
You see, in the Freebies, one can advertise anything they want for free if they sell it for $99 or less. My best finds have been play structures...three to date... and the best one was FREE ("you take apart and haul")...and 2 & 1/2 of them are still currently set up in various parts of our yards. My other favorite find (I'm too lazy to pull up the pic) was a 12 foot tall, living ficus tree...it's currently in my living room...and has NEVER been tipped over, (even though climbing has been attempted). I also called on "dust, you pick up, call 555-5555" just to laugh with the funny person that took time to send that in.
So that's it, during some point on a Saturday, eventhough I pretty much ingore Craigslist and the others, I still try to find time to scour the freebies.
