We wrapped up June with food, fun and yelling! . . .

Uncle D gave us another great lead on a food adventure. "Eureka! Eatery, hot chicken sandwich" has been on a pink post-it note on my fridge since I believe Christmas. We finally made it there tonight and Uncle D was spot on again! Meanwhile, as I was having fun taking my pictures and such, the kids were horrified and yelling at me to stop immediately!! ("yelling" #1)

Ok, not sure it's the best foodie picture but boy oh boy, it was a delicious chicken sandwich. I got the "Hot Sammie" which had a juicy piece of battered chicken (you pick the spice level, I picked mild and it still had a zip), coleslaw on top, fresh pickle slices under the chicken and a fabulous sauce on the bottom. They wrapped the bottom half in paper which made the whole soppy sandwich manageable. What a treat!

Then, yelling #2. I am doing my best to remain calm while being passenger in my new-to-me most favorite car yet while the not even 15 year old practices driving. It was just extremely difficult tonight from the back seat, which is where I sat because on the way to the most delicious chicken sandwich there was a massive bloody nose happening in the passenger seat while I was driving. So yeah, drips all over the seat. Wow! Anyway, our practicing driver has a bit of a lead foot and we had a few highways and entrances and exits to get through and well...yes...even on a summer fun night with good food...there was some yelling!  Real Life! I am planning to make some rules about this led foot situation starting tomorrow, fyi.

And finally, some fun!

This is us usually 30-45 minutes before our lake closes at 9 p.m.
I finally decided to bring the phone/camera out of the car.
I continue to vow that we're going to get to the lake earlier the next time, I've been vowing that for the last four years!
I am so, so, so happy that this gal still likes coming to the lake, despite the flies that continue to dive bomb her head in the middle of the lake. (-:

This is what we jumped into tonight.
Fills my heart every time.
This is the second lake, which has two entry points. And this one is where Ben, Livia and I were at one summer night of his last summer in 2016. I can picture the night and the fun Ben and Liv were having together like it was just a few weeks ago. I was sitting at the picnic table just off the shore and the 15 year old boy was splashing and playing with the 7 year old girl, that didn't happen often and I told myself then to take that in as I knew then how unique of a moment it was. So glad that memory is so vivid. They were romping and splashing right there, right off that there shore. 💜

Tuesday night, on our way home from the lake, we saw the most orange and brilliant sunset ever and Liv suggested we pass our home and head out to the fields we bike by sometimes where we typically see the best, full sunsets. This pic is me asking for a picture to show how the corn has far surpassed its goal of "knee high by the fourth of July." She was not thrilled with the request, but agreed nonetheless!

"Enough already! Why don't you stand there!"
(-:

We love taking our sunset pictures.

Not sure why I picked that verse other than it was in my daily reading and resonated with me. Always good to remember...especially when one has an old roof, patching leaks, more rain every day and a sagging, broken living room ceiling, yikes! It'll get figured out come what may!

Welcome, July!
