Tonight, this one is sitting there, right out in front, having been put on my desktop April 26th, 2015 or so it says. I sure haven't seen it sitting there all this while.
This
is
from
Ben's
Confirmation.
As our heart breaks, God has indeed blessed Benjamin.
"Remember the wondrous works that He has done, His miracles and the judgments He uttered." 1 Chronicles 16:12
His promise to send a Savior. His promise not to destroy the world again with a flood. His promises of eternal kingship to David's family. His people who are suffering, God remembers it all. He remembers us all.
From our first words to our secret wishes, form our saddest moments to our greatest victories and every day in between, God remembers us. Better yet, He remembers who we are even when we forget. When we are slaves to sin, God remembers our freedom. When despair drains our strength dry, God remembers our joy. When money or health problems bury us so deep we can't gasp for air. God remembers our lives and breathes into us hope.
And He helps us remember as well. He shows us we are His children and heirs through the sacrificial death of His Son. He shows what He has planned for us eternally in His kingdom. Then, tying us together in a quilt of memory, God reminds us who we are to one another. As His Church, we serve as memory boosters for our brothers and sisters in the faith. Thus bolstered, we will never again forget our living Lord, and He will surely always remember us.
Lord, may our memories of Your salvation move us always to action. Amen
