A little bit of this and a little bit of that . . .

Stumbled upon a great night's sleep last night (I don't usually have difficulty sleeping, I have difficulty going to sleep because I always want to do or have to do, a million things), but, last night I was just so dog gone tired I was out by about 10:30...yes, for me, that's early. So, today...whoo-hoo, off to the races with energy, and I'm sure the delightful sunshine helped too.

These two and I ran some errands after dropping off the oldest boy at a friend's house. Oh, I love the story about Ben's "new" friend from his history and German class.  He used to go to MOPS (the mother's group I attended for 10 years!) with this boy when he was four and I'm pretty sure back then they battled each other and did not get along.  Ben just had the best day ever with him and his family today, going to the auto show and then hanging out at their house after.  When I asked Ben what he liked about his "new" friend he said his sense of humor and his family is just a great family. LOVE. (and...I know the family, the mom sat at my table for an entire year at MOPS, the dad was in our cub scouts for a while, they are a great family, yay!)

Anyway, these two...on our way home after using someone's My Little Pony change purse full of loot at ValueWorld for new doll houses, stuffed animal and neck pillow (-: (I grew up garage sale-ing with my grandparents and LOVED it...Value World is my connection to those times without the newspaper, all the addresses circled, the 8:30a.m. take off time and all the driving)...and after searching for a 10 year old boy birthday present (scored a $10, blackbeard 3D pirate ship puzzle thingy at TJ Max), and after a stop for bagels...I saw the frozen river and sunshine and said, "We need to stop."  So we did.  And we trapsed around a bit, tested the edges of the ice and after one child scuffed out the other's stick-written name in the snow on the ice, and the crying and fighting started...we headed home...just keepin' it real my friends!

(-;

And then, after hacking down the over grown garden bed in the front yard, and trimming a tree that has been driving me crazy (I planted it 12 years ago and, while the folks that owned this place all 12 years are amazingly awesome to be working with us to be able to be here and buy the house again...they were just not the outdoorsy kind and let all "my" gardens and trees go to pot. (-:)...I drove kids to birthday parties and then...

Fixed the washing machine!

I haven't actually been able to do wash since we moved in January 2nd...don't you like how I trimmed trees and hacked down brush in my garden BEFORE dealing with the washing machine? Priorities people! (-;
Big "Thanks" to my brother Dan for googling the problem for me. It was such an easy fix once you got down to it, but I just did not have the brain power earlier to do any searching online about how to fix a washing machine.  After Ben and I and my dad dealt with fixing the valves on the wall (my dad convinced me that I should start using the term valve instead of "knob turning thingy's" when speaking about the issue (-:) and replacing the hoses to the washer and nothing got fixed (cold water just wasn't coming into the machine at all)...I kinda checked out from any more fixing the washing machine business.  Then, Dan, for the win, read about some little screen dealy and boop...out it came and in came the water.  New screen purchase on the hardware store list for tomorrow.

Oh, I've also discovered I far prefer trips to the hardware store than the mall...I could walk those aisles for hours...but you are reading accounts from a gal that requested a subscription to "The Family Handyman" a couple years ago when her mother-in-law was asking if she wanted Martha Stewart again.  (-;

OK...energy's just about gone now, and I've stayed up too late again so tomorrow...likely no gardening in the middle of January, nor any major appliance fixing...
