I came upon this verse for the first time around a year ago or so. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm fairly certain at the time I had never even heard of the book of Habakkuk...can you even believe that? During Liv's and my reading tonight she sure couldn't, she was shocked...seeing as how she has to memorize the books of the bible in school and such. Anyhoo...Within days or a day, can't recall now, of reading these verses for the first time, I stumbled upon a box of fig and olive crackers at Trader Joe's (which I'm hardly ever at 'cause it's across town).  I'd seen fig crackers in my life as many times as I saw the book of Habakkuk. I'm not a good verse memorizer but those verses have always stuck with me because of that ol' box of fig & olive crackers! (-:

So, Liv and I read a devotional book before her bedtime that has a verse or two at the top of the page, some writings on that verse by the author and then in a small box on the bottom, extra suggested reading scripture verses. Livia has been saying for a few months now that we need to be reading those (For the record, I'm floored by this!). Finally, we got a bible in her room (hers is at school), and she looks them all up while I read the devotional. Tonight was this Habakkuk one. She told me she always calls it "Habbabbkkuu or Habubabub or something." (-: And, I was glad to come upon it again, I do love it and find such glorious and overwhelming truth to it all given the nature of my life experiences.

Tonight's picture is shoal from the Lake Superior shore this past summer at the folk's cottage. I remember when I stumbled upon this long rock, (not literally stumbling...haha), being enamored by the different hues of blue and orange and the swirls of water prints on it. Dragged my mom out across rocks and shoal just to see it.

Verse 19 didn't make it into my picture unfortunately so here's the whole section that I love...💜

    Habakkuk 3:17-19

Habakkuk Rejoices in the Lord

17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,

    nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
    and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
    and there be no herd in the stalls,

18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
    I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
    he makes my feet like the deer's;
    he makes me tread on my high places.
To the choirmaster: with stringed[a] instruments.
