Ground Cover!
Pictured above are nine, yep nine, different varieties of ground cover I've amassed in my every so erratically planned landscaping. Typically, I find a gallon tub of one or two ground covers at the end of Fall marked down to $1.50ish and just can't resist. Fortunately for now, we have the space to plant them here there and everywhere, put I have a haunting feeling that if I blink a little too long, they're going to take over.
So, why do I have a bunch in cups? Tomorrow is the first meeting for the new year of this mother's group that I've gone to since H was a baby. This will be my 11th and most likely last year. The group I go to is MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). I'm a table leader again this year (I've done that a few times now along with years as the meal coordinator for moms with new babies) and thought it would be nice to bring the new moms at my table a little something. My initial plan was to go to the resale shop for odds and ends cups (which I did end up doing) and then planting a little bunch of mums in each cup. Now THAT would'a looked great. Alas, I ran out of time and all I was finding were big, $15 dollar mums with very tall stalks and they wouldn't have chopped down nicely. So, ground cover popped to mind and I had no idea I had so many different types. Worked pretty well I think, and although my 14 year old rolled her eyeballs and asked "Um, why are you bringing them that?," I'm still 100% behind the idea being cool...ok, fine...97.8% sure now!
