Our "Last Hurrah"

Pains me to go out of chronological order here in the blog, (-: but wanted to put up a few shots from our end of August trip to P.J. Hoffmaster State Park on Lake Michigan.  It takes me a good, solid week (or more) to dig out from underneath the piles of stuff dropped in and around the house upon the return from such a trip and I thought posting pictures would be more fun that sorting through the camp equipment box.  So, here they are...

I couldn't post just one pic of our tent setting up experience.  It was something else this time, unlike anything we'd experienced before.  After about 30+ minutes of the various pictured shenanigans with our Jedi warriors and their poles and finally losing very necessary pieces, the adults needed a break.  SP took the boys to the playground and as us two girls sat at the camp to decompress we figured we'd have a stab at setting it up ourselves. We did it!!

We had one great piece of toast from our first attempt with the 1950's Tonka Toaster.  Then we forgot the other one was still cooking and it ended up burnt!

Grandma & Poppie arrived for the last two days of the trip and they got to experience the high quality, expert tent-setter-uppers that are the Pierce family.

So, why do we go through all this rigamarole?

The warm, still waters of the Black Creek River
 (I think that's the name)...

The fantastic sand dunes...

The views from above...

Great, fresh water to splash in
(no sticky saltwater or jelly fish - "Go Michigan"!)...

Soft, silky sand
(no, my boys didn't create this, they embellished it)

Sunsets, sunsets...

Sunsets!

Yes, there's some work that goes into camping, some inconviences at times (got locked out of my shower room after running the boys back to camp...yes, I had my suit on...for about 25 minutes) but being along with the kids as they enjoy these exciting new adventures really does make up for it all (oh, and the 2 &1/2 foot high air mattress I picked at the adult gift exchange last Christmas didn't hurt!!  We'll go again next year for sure! (-:)
